Nobody knows Afiba

When she came out of music talent hunt, Stars of the Future in 2009, her ambition at the time was to pursue a career in music. But her parents had other plans for her- to pursue higher education.

After fulfilling her parents’ wish, Afiba is back to music business and to announce her presence, she is set to release her debut song, Nobody Knows on Saturday, July 2.

“If you have a passion, it’s better to pursue it otherwise it will haunt you for the rest of your life. That’s what happened to me. I thought I could pursue other career interests apart from music but I realised there was no interest.

“Music is me and I’m happy I’m finally doing what I love and was born to do,” the 30-year-old told Showbiz in an interview on Monday.

Recorded by Nana Fynn, Nobody Knows is a love song which talks about how many women are going through emotional trauma because of it.

The Afro pop song depicts a young lady telling a story of how she’s done everything to win the appreciation of her partner but have had to endure many betrayals.

With great vocals which she says is her asset, Afiba believes she’s got what will make her excel in a competitive field like music.

Currently signed to KB Empire Entertainment, the native of Kwahu Pepease in the Eastern Region said she’s been inspired by the success stories of some female artistes making waves in the country.

“I love to do ballads but in our part of the world, it’s not been widely accepted so as versatile as I am, I want to do a rich blend of music genres with a niche for Neo-Soul, Afro pop and R&B,” she stated.

A graduate of Accra Polytechnic and Methodist University where she studied Management Studies, Afiba hopes to work on her craft to be an enviable brand in Ghana and beyond the shores of the African continent in five years.
