At a press launch organised at the foyer of the Silverbird Cinemas at the  Accra Mall last week to officially announce the show  scheduled for the Tema Sports Stadium on Friday, July 1, the musicians were excited to honour a man who has significantly contributed to their success.

In attendance were D. Cryme, Stay Jay, Nana Boroo and some of the upcoming musicians from Tema who have benefitted from the “magic hands” of Kaywa.

Speaking with Showbiz , D.Cryme, who has worked with Kaywa on a number of his works and productions said it was a delight to see “a star in sound engineering and production honoured”.

“Tema breeds the best and it is not surprising that Kaywa is from the port city. We always pride ourselves being not just the best but the first to set the pace for others to follow. I’m not surprised the first sound engineer to be celebrated is from Tema,” he stated.

He wasn’t alone in showering praises on the man who has bred many young talents from Tema and the Ghana Music industry in general . Stay Jay told Showbiz how he was inspired to walk on the path of fame with the “solid sounds” from the studios of Kaywa when he started his career.

His many songs including the popular Yenko Nkoaa with Eduwodzi was the favourite of many music lovers. He attributed the successes he chalked to Kaywa.

“He wasn’t in for the money. It was his passion to see that Tema became the hub of Ghana music and that was how the movement started. Many of the music stars Ghana takes pride in today started their journey from the studios of Kaywa. He deserves to be celebrated after 15 years of bringing nothing short of feeding us with quality sounds,” he stated.

Though he was not present at the launch, Sarkodie in a video message played at the press launch expressed his support to the show. He also recalled the contribution of Kaywa to his success as an international brand.

The Kaywa Live Playlist concert is expected to bring on board the big names on the music scene on a stage. Artistes billed for the show as announced by the organisers, House of Maasela, are Kwabena Kwabena, Sarkodie, Okyeame Kwame, Becca, Samini, D Cryme, R2Bees, 4X4, Ofori Amponsah and Nana Boroo.
