Otoo, who has exhibited widely in Africa,  Europe and the United States, captures the beat and daily rhythm of life with vibrant abstract works that simply reminisce the traditional and contemporary culture of Ghana.

His jazzy paintings depict rhythms spurting out of the instruments of the musicians with a calculated pace as brush strokes move in unison as well as uneven formations all over the canvas.

Exposed to jazz at a very age by his father, Otoo has a wide range of works related to jazz.

He has a unique ability to make jazz music almost tangible in abstract rhythms whenever he paints musicians.

Educated at the College of Art, Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (Kumasi), his paintings decorate Ghana’s presidential palace, the UNICEF building in Ghana as well as Ghana’s chancery in Washington, USA.

The exhibition, which ends on Saturday, May 18, forms part of activities marking the 2014 edition of Accra Jazz Festival.
