Kay Wusu arrives with Asore

Staying off the music radar for over a decade is long time enough to discourage any artiste from bouncing back but not highlife artiste, Kay Wusu who composed songs like Cash and Carry and Oyerepa before going into hiatus.

After being in the “wilderness” for a long time, the “Afro-centric” highlife musician as he describes himself says he is back with a new swag to spice up the highlife terrain.

That swag, he said is summed up in his new single titled, Asore. The song, a highlife tune, with suggestive lyrics entreats men to seek medical and spiritual assistance when their “traps can’t catch any animal”.

However, in an interview with Showbiz last week, Kay Wusu denied claims that his song has risque lyrics. He said that he was being creative and humorous and was happy with the outcome considering the feedback since the song hit the air waves a couple of months ago.

“It is interesting to know how people have divergent views on this song. While some people label it as a gospel song, others see it as profane. When someone is asleep and you want the person to wake up, you say ‘sore’ in the Akan language which is my mother tongue and so I don’t know what is profane about this.

Asore is a personal admonishing to me as well to wake up from my slumber and work hard because I have the talent to make it big in music.  It is a motivational song to inspire people to forge ahead in life no matter the difficulties that hinder their progress.

Asore is to energise anything that is dead and needs resurrection”, he said.

Currently signed on to Maddhaus Entertainment, Kay Wusu, real name, Anthony Kofi Owusu, a native of Nsuta in the Eastern region is hopeful Asore will give him the needed publicity and resurrect his music career.

He said he is working on another song, Mo Nnwe which will be a prelude to his upcoming album scheduled for release this year
