It is only a four-piece band but the members in the Praise Levites Crew, known more as the PL Crew, know how to groove on their various instruments and their dexterity is never in question whenever they strike.
Comprising Emmanuel Bludo (drums), Patrick Ofori Dankwa (keyboards), Enoch Owuraku Kissi (guitar) and Sanaa Opoku Agyemang (bass), the PL Crew has within about two years, distinguished itself as the nation’s leading gospel band with specialty in a wide variety of styles.
The primary aim of the PL Crew is to assist in the propagation of the word of God through music and that has led it to work with leading gospel artistes from here and abroad.
The tall list of acts PL Crew has backed include Ron Kenoly, Juanita Bynun and Michelle Hammond (USA), Uche Agu and OB Shine (Nigeria), Penjani Nguni (Zambia) and Ghanaian gospel heavyweights such as Sonnie Badu, Danny Nettey, No Tribe, Stella Seal, Cwesi Oteng, Eugene Zuta, Joe Mettle, the Next Generation Gospel Ministers and Francis Amo.
The PL Crew has also shared stage with other internationally acclaimed gospel acts like Kirk Franklin, Kirk Whalum, Donnie Mccluckin and William MacDowell.
“We are constantly rehearsing so we are always ready to go. The various acts like to play with us because we always bring some freshness to their songs,” says bassist, Sanaa Opoku Agyeman.
“Sometimes some of the artistes marvel at the extra effort we make to re-arrange their own material. We are a serious bunch and we know what keeps us in business but in the long run, we want the name of Jesus to be lifted high in all hearts.”
The PL Crew was started a little over two years ago by bassist Sanaa Opoku Agyemang who felt the need to establish a tight band solidly rooted in the Christian faith.
It has since been anchored in different Christian entertainment events which include launches, concerts and reality shows.
PL Crew is currently in the studio recording its maiden album which is expected to feature some first-rate gospel artistes from all over the world.
They hope that would launch them as one of the best bands on the worldwide gospel music circuit.
