On Friday, 25 August, all 24 contestants made their way to the spa for a three-day intensive training exercise in many modules related to music.

The boot camp session, according to organisers was a way to prepare them for the weekly live stage performances and also to help cut down the number to the final 12.

On arrival, the contestants were privileged to be coached by voice and performance expert, Freeman Eme, who has worked with some of the big names in the music industry including, Adina, EL, 4x4, Kakie, Irene Logan, and Wiyaala.

He took them through breathing exercises, speech improvement, pitch and inflections, rapping on key, singing on key and finally, for that particular session, articulation drills.

They were also taken through the various stage crafts, which include, entrance and exit, performance modes, performance types and performance styles.

Saturday morning saw the contestants embarking on intensive aerobics, gym drills and a number of other physical activities designed to improve the fitness of the wannabe stars.

Their voice coach, again, after they had breakfast, took them through vocal techniques, communication skills and poise.

The contestants also had interactions with Munyaradzi Chanetsa, Head of Operations – Africa, of Content Connect Africa, an organisation which deals in digital distribution, creation of content and curation of content.

According to him, all the 24 contestants will have the opportunity to generate revenue with their music while in the competition.

He also added that streams and downloads will be part of the final score for all contestants. Meaning, the more songs are downloaded, the more marks a contestant could accumulate. Content will stream in other countries such as South Africa, Zambia, Uganda, Nigeria, Rwanda and Swaziland.

The question as to who makes it to the final 12 will be determined by the end of the week as all 24 contestants meet the panel once again in a bid to battle for a slot in the final 12.
