They may not be as popular as others on the local music scene but Asomafour, made up of Sellasie ‘Lover’ Owusu and Andrews ‘Famous’ Frimpong,  intends to make  good impression on listeners.

That is exactly what they have done with their latest singles, Wedding and Kaa Damu both of which have been done in a blend of hiplife and dancehall.

Wedding talks about a lady  putting pressure on her man to wed her. The guy in return assures her that he would wed her in good time. It is a danceable song, little wonder it is already receiving appreciable airplay.

“We are dedicating the two singles to our late member, Zakeous, who was our leader but died in a car accident in Kumasi,” they said.

According to the duo, Asomafour started in 2000 but their debut Mina album came out in 2005. It contained songs like Asabi, Odo Tieme, Wontumi Ntake and Mina.

In 2007, they released a single titled Wobodam which did quite well. Between 2008 and 2010, they were in Jamaica because they were being managed by a Jamaican

“We took the opportunity while in Jamaica to study their language and culture and we also improved musically, especially with our dancehall,” they said.

When they came back, they released another single Love To Be Mine after which they took a little break before being blessed with a new manager Faisal Ali of Alles Production.

“He is  moving us forward and we are optimistic that things will be okay,” was how Famous described their new manager.

Under the new management, the duo have released singles like Totrobento (Trumpet) and Nyadua.

As to how they come up with ideas for their songs, the duo said they share ideas together and their manager also makes an input.

They also fall on  what they describe as ‘the ups and downs of life’, to write their lyrics.

Asomafour admitted that it is a highly competitive industry out there but they hope to have their names written as one of the best ever.

“With hard work, good management and the fact that we combine dancehall and hiplife, we believe we will be one of the favourites pretty soon,” they said.

Asomafour had a message for their fans: “We love them very much. They should continue to support us and follow us on Facebook and Twitter because we have more goodies coming up for them.”
