Nigerian singer happy with Ghanaian support

Yemi who calls Ghana her second home was here a fortnight ago as part of her African Media tour where she hosted the media to help her project her brand in the country.

“I am overwhelmed by the support Ghanaians have given to me since I released Johnny. It is a dream come true for me and I hope to climb the music ladder in Ghana with my songs,” she said.

While in Ghana, Yemi also seized the opportunity to promote her other song, Tangerine, which features Nigerian artiste, Selebobo of Yoyo fame.

Unlike in Johnny where she is bitter about the maltreatment her boyfriend, Johnny, gives her, in Tangerine, she sings about how sweet her boyfriend is. Just like the tangerine fruit.

Tangerine is a danceable tune with a touch of some African and francophone rhythms.

She told Showbiz last week Friday that she composed the song in appreciation of the many men who know how to treat their partners well.

“It is always good to put smiles on your woman’s face and women should also be willing to appreciate their men.”

Yemi Eberechi Alade had a taste of the Nigerian music industry back in 2005 as a member of an all girls group, Noty Spices. She also won the Peak Talent Show, a music talent hunt in Nigeria in 2009.

Yemi Alade believes that the time is now for Africans to recognise her as a force to reckon with in the music industry.
