Emelia raises funds for children’s home

The purpose of the kiddifest, which saw in attendance other Kumawood actors, including Kyeiwaa, Michael Afranie and Maame Serwaa, was to raise funds for the completion of a building facility for the Patmos Children’s Home at Tewobaabi Obuasi in the Ashanti Region.

The event brought together many children of school-  age from Obuasi and its environs. They engaged in many recreational activities, including  games such as ampe, oware and Ludo. A dancing competition was held among the various schools present.

The hiplife group, Ruff and Smooth of Azingele fame, was present to dish out some entertainment to the children.

At the end of the day, Emelia, with the assistance of her colleagues, raised GH¢6000 to help in the completion of a building that will house inmates of the children’s home.

She said she nursed the desire to assist the home when she  visited there last year and was touched by the deprived facilities which accommodated the children.

“This is my own way of giving back to the society that made me who I am today. The Lord has blessed me and it is only right for me to extend my blessings to others. This is a project I hope to continue and take to other regions in the coming years,” she said.

Emelia  entreated parents to let the welfare and education of their children be a priority since the children were their future investment.

The Deputy Minister of Gender, Children and Social Welfare, John Alexander Ackon, who was the special guest for the event, praised the actress for her “kind gesture”.

He called on other public figures and celebrities to use their status to positively influence their various communities.
