The Queenmother of Asamama in the Atiwa West District of the Eastern Region, Nana Amoabemaa Gyasi I, has commended the District Chief Executive, Mr Isaac Akomaning Asamoah, for completing most of the social amenities he started in the area.
The queenmother, who also praised the DCE for providing revenue-generating materials to physically challenged persons in the area, however, suggested that at least two of such persons be selected from each community.
Nana Gyasi gave the commendation at a gathering at Asamama when the DCE briefed the people on ongoing projects in the area.
The gathering also discussed the upcoming referendum on the election of Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chief Executives (MMDCEs).
Thirty-two physically challenged persons were also presented with items to help them generate income, such as gas ovens, deep freezers and hairdressing materials.
Nana Gyasi said although Mr Asamoah had not been in office for long, many of the communities had benefited from social amenities such as schools, mini markets, boreholes and other sanitation facilities.
She, however, said there were physically challenged persons in every community who should be catered for to enable them to earn a living.

Earlier, the DCE said most of the 26 social amenities made up of classroom blocks, mechanical boreholes, poly tanks and teachers’ bungalows, as well as road rehabilitation which he initiated 18 months ago in the various communities had been completed.
Mr Asamoah displayed pictures of the projects to show that they had indeed been completed, and gave an assurance that by the middle of 2020, all projects would be completed and handed over to beneficiary communities.
With regard to the referendum on the election of MMDCEs, Mr Asamoah told the gathering that it was the best way to administer the districts and rallied support for it.
The Atiwa West Social Welfare Unit Head, Ms Gloria Nyavor, later explained that many physically challenged persons had been catered for and the rest would have their turn in due course.
