The driver whose vehicle ran into another vehicle carrying the Chief Justice of Russia, Mr Vyacheslav M. Lebedev, on the Ho-Accra highway has reported himself to the police at Ho.
Richard Kofi Degbor, 47, reported himself to the police yesterday.
The Volta Regional Police Commander, Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP), Mr Kofi Asare, told the Daily Graphic that Degbor called him (Asare) last Tuesday evening at about 6:30 pm and said that he was prepared to assist the police in their investigations provided they assured him of protection.
Based on the assurance and confidence given him, Mr Asare said Degbor reported himself to the police in the company of the son of the truck owner.
He said Degbor would be taken to the scene of the accident as part of the investigations.
Last Monday, Degbor, who was driving a Man Diesel tipper truck with registration number GT 4911-J, ran into the convoy of the visiting Russian Chief Justice, injuring him and his Ghanaian police bodyguard.
