Local company enters upstream petroleum services
The Ghana Petroleum Commission has granted a permit to Pressure Tech Engineering Limited, a Ghanaian petroleum engineering company, to undertake upstream petroleum services of lifting inspection, calibration as well as equipment and material supply services.

The Country Manager of Pressure Tech Engineering, Mr Chris Taylor who disclosed this during an interview with newsmen, said “Pressure Tech Engineering believes in excellence in engineering services for both oil and gas, hence has secured a valid Petroleum Commission Upstream Permit.”
The company already undertakes several downstream services to support Ghana’s budding oil and gas sector which is begging for increased local participation in the very complex and vast sector.
Pressure Tech has four certified trainers, a Level III NDT Supervisor/Trainer and what is believed to be the first female PCN Level II NDT Inspector in Ghana, Ms Ellen Aba Ninsin, who has done some work on offshore inspection on cranes work.

Mr Taylor explained that the company which is located in four countries including Ghana (headquarters) also had its own workshop, 150-tonne Test bed and Presses which were capable of pressing wire rope from 10 mm through to 52 mm, with a huge stock of wire rope, thimbles, ferrules, master links.
It also has the Test beds capable of pull testing, proof loading and calibration.
Pressure Tech also operates in Cote d’Ivoire, Liberia, and Equatorial Guinea.

He said as part of the companies resolve to increase the capacity of indigenes, “we are fully complying with the Ghanaian Local Content Law and hence having more than 90 per cent locals working in all departments of the company.”
He added that since the company believed in technical and vocational training, all of its engineers start off with a minimum of HND in Mechanical Engineering, from there they could specialise in other areas where the company’s services covered, including Pressure Testing, Crane Inspection, Rigging and Container Inspection, Calibration, Proof and Load testing and NDT Scopes.
