Volta Institute to establish entrepreneurial centre in Ho
The Volta Institute of Development Studies (VIDS), a non-governmental organisation (NGO), is to establish a Development and Entrepreneurship Centre in Ho to promote business activities as well as generate interest in the agriculture sector among the youth in the Volta Region.

The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of VIDS, Mr Courage Dei Zanga, disclosed this at a day’s summit in Ho for business ventures in the region.
The summit was organised in collaboration with the Volta Regional Coordinating Council (VRCC) with the aim of equipping business executives with the necessary knowledge and skills in their ventures.
According to Mr De-Zanga, the summit was expected to empower the people of the region to be abreast of some government policies and business opportunities around the world
He said the investment division of the Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Agriculture, Public Private Partnership desk at the office of the President, Venture Capital Trust Fund and National Investment Bank (NIB) were the main facilitators.
The Member of Parliament and Chairman of the Volta Caucus in Parliament, Mr Joseph Amenorwode, who also chaired the plenary session of the summit, said he was unhappy with the way parents influenced their children to pursue white colour jobs instead of encouraging them to establish business ventures of their own.
He, therefore, urged the youth to take advantage of the summit and come out with ideas that would enable them to initiate business avenues to supplement the government’s job creation efforts.
The Deputy Volta Regional Minister, Mr Francis Ganyaglo, congratulated the organisers of the summit and promised the government’s support for the project in the region.
Participants called on the government to offer more support for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), not only in the region, but in the country as a whole since such businesses were the economy’s engine of growth.
