tiGO launches 'Reach for Change' project
Tigo Ghana, in partnership with a Swedish-based non-profit organisation, Reach for Change, is offering $300,000 for three years to four Ghanaians who provide innovative ideas that will better the lives of children.

Under the project, four children would receive $25,000 each year for three years to help bring their ideas into reality.
Additionally, the four (social entrepreneurs) would receive tools and support to develop and scale their ideas.
Tigo would monitor their progress overtime to ensure that they meet agreed key performance indicators. The four would receive support from some of the most outstanding Tigo co-workers to help scale and develop their ideas so that they become financially sustainable.
Last year, two Ghanaians, Dr Peter Kwarteng, a medical practitioner and Mr James Kofi Annan of Challenging Heights, were selected for the Reach for Change initiative.
Both of them have since received their first payments of $25,000 each.
Inaugurating this year’s event in Accra, the acting General Manager of Tigo Ghana, Mr Obafemi Banigbe, said “children occupy a special place in our lives and hearts, hence the need to invest into creating the enabling environment for their safety and growth”.
Tigo, he said, currently supported nine social entrepreneurs under the Reach for Change project.
“In addition to the financial support the four will receive coaching and mentoring from employees of Tigo to equip them with skills and expertise to operate on their own after the three years. The team from Reach for Change will also work with them to implement their projects,” he said.
Mr Banigbe said it was the expectation of the organisers that by the end of the third year, “these projects should be financially sustaining, providing employment and opportunities for the youth while improving the lives of our children”.
The Reach for Change Programme Manager for Ghana, Ms Giulia Tavolato, said the project was to look for passionate- driven individuals.
