Stanbic Bank donate laptops to needy students

Stanbic Bank Ghana Limited, has presented 50 laptops to some needy but brilliant science students of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST).

The donation formed part of the Support One Needy Student with One Laptop (SONSOL) project instituted by the Vice Chancellor of KNUST, Prof Mrs Rita Akosua Dickson.

Two years ago, the bank made a promise to support the university with 200 laptops over a period of four years.

The 50 laptops were specifically designed to support the teaching and learning of engineering and science related subjects.

Presentation

Making the presentation to the beneficiary students, the Head of Communications, Stanbic Bank, Kojo Larbi, said the objectives of the SONSOL project was in line with the bank’s policy on education particularly the focus on female in science which he said, was very cardinal.

Appreciation

Olivia Akoka Zangina, a first year Bsc Computer Science student of KNUST and a beneficiary of the donation, was grateful to the bank for the donation.

She said the laptop would help her in her studies and ensure that she kept up with the course. She further appealed to the bank to continue to support needy students to achieve their dreams.

Another beneficiary, Ampem Nana Koho Asamoah, also a first year Bio Chemistry student, said it was very difficult doing science without a laptop as it was difficult keeping up with others and doing research.

However, he said with the donation, he would be able to go through the course without any difficulty.
