SSNIT takes legal action to retrieve contributions
According Mrs Rosemary A. Sackey, Tema Area Manager of SSNIT, the legal action has helped SSNIT to retrieve social security contributions in arrears.
She cited for example the Dangme East District Assembly which owed GH₵40,052.86 for January 2010 to June 2012 which has paid GH₵22,005.28 and negotiated the payment of the balance of GH₵18,047.58.
Severin Nkamwa of Ningo Salt Limited who initially owed GH₵85,537.69 between November 2011 and March 2012 and has also paid GH₵36,537.69, while Gabriel Anku of Aqua-In Ltd reduced his indebtedness to GH₵500.91 from GH₵12,229.62 by paying an amount of GH₵11,728.11.
Mrs Sackey further said Emmanuel Acquah of Emmanuel Preparatory School in Keta who owed GH₵3,053.44 as of December 2011 had paid GH₵300.00 out of the amount and Mr Sammy Tawiah of Biochemicals Products Limited who has fully paid his debt of GH₵1,818.82.
She emphasised that the legal proceedings would continue until “the last pesewa is paid by the employers.”
