Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce to improve skills of students

THE Spain-Ghana Chamber of Commerce is implementing an initiative that allows students of the University of Ghana (UG) to have industrial experience with member-companies of the chamber.

The initiative which was birthed as a result of the Memorandum of Understanding between the chamber and the UG in 2022 seeks to expose students to work experiences, build their skills and also empower them to understanding the dichotomy between academia and industry.

At the annual general meeting (AGM) of the chamber in Accra, the Spanish Ambassador to Ghana, Javier Gutierrez, said the initiative was a laudable one which would go a long way to improve the skills of students and ultimately contribute to sustainable development in the country.

Mr Gutierrez, who is Honorary President of the chamber, urged other members of the chamber to come on board and participate in the initiative to help build the knowledge base of students.

He said continuous partnership between the Spanish Embassy and the chamber was a catalyst for development in the country and expressed the joy about the increased number of membership of the chamber.

For his part, the President of the Chamber of Commerce, Joaquín Roura, expressed confidence in member companies to leverage their collective strengths to transform the current economic challenges in the country into opportunities.

He reiterated that the chamber would continue to actively promote trade and investment opportunities, facilitate partnerships and provide a platform for knowledge exchange and networking.
