Vivo Energy has reopened the Shell Filling Station near the Tema General Hospital.
The new service station now houses KFC as an addition to meet the needs of customers.
Speaking at the ceremony to officially reopen the station, the Executive Vice-President in charge of Supply and Marketing at Vivo Energy, Mr David Mureithi, indicated that the refurbishment of the station forms part of the company’s growth and modernisation plan.
According to him, the introduction of the KFC eatery was to provide a superior customer experience to clients within the Tema metropolis and other adjourning communities.
“Our objective is to expand our retail network by bringing Shell brands closer to our customers and provide them with high- quality fuels, lubricants, shops and lube bays”, Mr Mureithi said.
The eatery has a drive-through service which provides quick service restaurant concept for customers wishing to be served in their vehicles.
KFC
Mr Mureithi stressed that the addition of KFC into the value chain would also afford customers the opportunity to relax during the servicing of their vehicles at the station.
The Country Business Head of KFC, Mr Amit Dev, for his part, indicated that KFC has been Shell’s partner in Africa within the last decade.
According to him, KFC presently operates in 12 countries across Africa, with South Africa, Kenya and Ghana hosting majority of its businesses.
“In Africa, we have partnership with Shell in South Africa, Kenya, Uganda and recently, Ghana, where KFC joints are situated at various vending stations to keep touch with our clients”, Mr Dev said.
He expressed the hope that the partnership with Vivo in Ghana would also create enormous opportunities for the country’s teeming youth.
The Tema Metropolitan Chief Executive (MCE), Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, welcomed KFC’s decision to extend its services to the metropolis, which he said would create job opportunities for young people in the metropolis.
Mr Odamtten challenged the company to ensure efficiency and customer satisfaction in its operations while it expands its services to various cities across the country.
