At a cocktail party in Accra where four workers of Quantum Petroleum Ltd were presented with dummy keys to sport utility vehicles (SUVs) for their hard work,  the Group’s Executive Chairman, Nazem Karoum, implored the award winners to work even harder to bring further improvement to the company.

Other companies in the Samir Group apart from Quantum Petroleum Ltd include Platinum Motors Ltd; Platinum Tours and Travel Ltd; Samir Engineering and Trading Co. Ltd; Civil & Structures and First Stockmovers Ltd.

“With more than a combined workforce of more than 500 employees, we owe our good standing not only to prudent management, but also to the hard work of the general staff and support of a variety of business partners,” Mr Karoum said.

The function was also to bid farewell to the outgoing Samir Group Financial Controller, Mr G. Venkatraman and to welcome the new Chief Operations Officer, Mr Sridar Krishnamurthy.

The Executive Chairman praised Mr Venkatraman for the dedicated work he put in during his six years with the Samir Group and said as the top financial man, he brought discipline to the group’s financial management.

“Though we would have loved to keep him with us here for a longer period, we cannot stop him from leaving because he has a calling which we believe he cannot refuse. He is going back to India to do God’s work. On behalf of the Samir Group, I wish him all the best in his future endeavour,” Mr Karoum said.

He also welcomed the new chief operations officer into the Samir Group family and hoped he would  bring new insights into the operations of the various companies.

Mr Venkatraman also said it was an unforgettable experience working for  the Samir Group.

He thanked everyone, including their customers, the banks, management and staff of the Samir Group of Companies and staff of the National Petroleum Authority for helping him to succeed in his job in Ghana.

The incoming chief operations officer also thanked the Samir Group for choosing him to work with him and asked for the support of all to enable him to contribute his best to the group. — GB
