Sahara Group built on trust and integrity — Tonye Cole
Sahara Group, the dream that began with three partners, has blossomed into a fast-growing oil, gas and energy conglomerate in Africa through trust, resilience and integrity, the Executive Director and co-founder of the energy giant, Mr Tonye Cole, has said.

Speaking in Accra on a special entrepreneurship feature on Joy FM Radio Station, Mr Cole said successful partnerships in business required an unwavering commitment by the partners to bring their unique attributes to the pool and abide by the highest level of trust and integrity.
He stated that those attributes served as the foundation for the formation of Sahara by three partners 19 years ago.
“We resolved from the outset to keep external parties away from the business and transparently pursue our goals by seeking the extraordinary from the mundane, building strong relationships and resolving never to quit even in the face of impossibilities and failure,” co-founder of the energy conglomerate said.
He explained that the attitude or response of entrepreneurs to failure or missed opportunities would determine if the business went on to survive and made impact in its sector.
“At Sahara, the word ‘failure’ is essentially non-existent. We simply consider failure to be the power that ignites our passion towards the achievement of greater heights. It is a time to reflect, learn and reach for a greater quest, much more robust and daring than were we stumbled. That is, we respond with one of prized core values in Sahara – the can-do attitude,” he added.
He urged budding African entrepreneurs to establish their businesses on ideas that could produce solutions and seek relationships around them that would help nurture the business and provide platforms for future growth.
Mr Cole gave the assurance that Sahara was in Ghana for good and would continue to grow its presence in the country through continuing investments in the oil, gas and energy sectors as well as human capital development.

Following its establishment in 1996 as the Sahara Energy Resource Limited with expertise in trading of Petroleum products, the company has continued to witness significant growth and diversification culminating in its emergence as a conglomerate with a managing entity called the Sahara Group.
Over the years, the group has expanded to cover several areas in the energy sector including trading of petroleum products and crude oil, storage facilities, retailing of petroleum products, exploration and production activities and infrastructure development.
