Prudential Bank Limited has successfully completed a landmark GH¢1.13 billion strategic capital investment by Bloom Africa Holdings Ghana Limited, following the receipt of formal regulatory approval from the Bank of Ghana.
The bank announced the completion of the transaction on Friday, October 9, 2026, describing it as a significant boost to its capital position, which now stands well above regulatory minimum requirements.
The capital infusion is expected to reinforce the bank's financial resilience and provide substantial additional capacity to expand support for customers and businesses while accelerating long-term growth.
The investment marks an important milestone in the evolution of one of Ghana's longest-serving indigenous banks. According to the bank, the funds will be deployed to enhance customer experience through investment in technology and service delivery, support business growth by providing increased lending capacity to small and medium-sized enterprises and corporate clients, and drive innovation by accelerating digital transformation initiatives.
Commenting on the investment, the Acting Managing Director of Prudential Bank, Mr Ebow Quayson, said the capital injection significantly strengthens the bank and enhances its capacity to deliver on the priorities it has set. He said it gives the bank greater capacity to invest in technology and service delivery, support the growth of its customers and their businesses, accelerate its digital transformation and position it for its next phase of sustainable growth.
The Board Chairman of Bloom Africa Holdings, Mr Gabriel Edgal, said Prudential Bank has a strong legacy in Ghana, built on a deep understanding of its customers, businesses and the market it serves. He said the group wants to build on that foundation as part of a truly Pan-African financial institution that understands local markets and the businesses that drive them, while connecting those businesses to capital and opportunities across the continent. He added that Africa's growth must be supported by strong African institutions that can facilitate trade, mobilise capital and enable businesses to grow within and beyond their immediate markets.
The Board and Management of Prudential Bank expressed appreciation to the Bank of Ghana for its guidance and support throughout the process, and to the bank's shareholders, customers, employees and other stakeholders for their continued confidence.
