Prof. Quaynor called to Internet Hall of Fame

Prof. Nii Narku QuanorProfessor Nii Narku Quaynor, Chairman of Ghana Dot Com (GDC), an Internet software and content provider, has been inducted into the Internet Hall of Fame by The Internet Society for pioneering Internet development and expansion in Africa.

The honour was bestowed on him on August 3, 2013 in Berlin, Germany, with other notable individuals from around the world for their significant contributions to the advancement of the global Internet.

It also sought to honour personalities who have pushed the Internet boundaries to bring the Internet to life and make it an essential resource used by billions.

Professor Quaynor was named among the “Pioneers Circle”, a category which recognised and celebrated individuals, who were instrumental in the early design and development of the Internet.

The Internet Society inducted 32 individuals into the Internet Hall of Fame in three categories, namely “Pioneers Circle”, “Innovators” and “Global Connectors.” Innovators recognise individuals who made outstanding technological, commercial, or policy advances and helped to expand the internet's reach.

According to Professor Quaynor, his goal has been to enable the billions of people from developing countries to have a chance to benefit from the Internet.

Professor Quaynor is a Professor of Computer Science at the University of Cape Coast, Ghana.
