PETROSOL is an emerging privately owned Ghanaian oil marketing company (OMC) brand known in the industry for its commitment to service excellence, professionalism and industry best practices. 

It markets quality petroleum products such as gasoline (petrol), gas oil (diesel), liquefied petroleum gas (LPG), kerosene, gas oil to the mines, lubricants, among others, through its 46 branded fuel and LPG stations spread across almost all the regions of Ghana.

PETROSOL’s phenomenal growth has been largely as a result of the commitment of its team — staff, management, directors and dealers.

The Petrosol Management Team

The management team is made up of young, highly skilled and competent Ghanaian professionals with proven track record of excellent industry performance cutting across multinational, Pan-African/regional and indigenous firms.

With PETROSOL’s background as a petroleum business management and consultancy firm, and with industry capacity building as its core competence, it continues to invest in assembling top-notch professionals who demonstrate the company’s core values. 

The management team members are: MICHAEL BOZUMBIL, CEO

Mr Bozumbil, 40, has been the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of PETROSOL since its formation in 2006. He has about 20 years’ experience in petroleum business management starting from fuel retail outlet management through field operations supervision to senior level management and consultancy. He also has a fine blend of experience which cuts across various categories of OMCs — multinational, Pan-African/Regional and indigenous ones.

He has used his useful experiences in the industry accumulated over the years to provide leadership and direction for the management team. 

A passionate believer in excellence, he coaches and guides his team to aim at nothing but the best, notwithstanding the challenges  in the country, as he believes that quality or excellence has no nationality.    

Before PETROSOL began operating as an OMC, he doubled as the Managing Director of Pacific Oil Ghana Ltd between 2010-2013, after guiding them to secure their OMC licence. During this period, he played a key role in helping to make Pacific Oil Ghana Ltd a key and player in the downstream subsector of Ghana’s oil and gas industry.

Mr Bozumbil began his career in the petroleum industry as a Station Manager of Shell Ghana Ltd in Accra and later became the Marketing Representative/Area Manager of Oando Ghana Ltd and Head of Marketing of Nasona Oil Co. Ltd, where he played a key role in growing these companies and won a number of awards for his contribution to the growth of these companies.

Through his consultancy business, he has consulted for a number of OMCs and assisted in guiding them in the area of industry best practices.

Though relatively young, Mr Bozumbil has won the respect of industry and for about a decade now, he on several occasions been nominated as industry’s representative on a number of teams/committees. He was industry’s sole representative on the team that worked on the NPA’s first Strategic Plan.

He currently chairs the Legal & Ethics Committee of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs) through which he has actively engaged with the NPA, the members of the Association as well as other stakeholders to bring about reforms, especially local content promotion in the industry and has also been promoting best industry practices. 


Mr Bozumbil currently also represents the AOMCs at the level of the Private Enterprise Federation (PEF), the national apex body of Ghana’s business community.

He attended both the Ghana Institute of Management &Public Administration (GIMPA), where he pursued a Master of Business Administration(MBA) programme at the University of Ghana where he obtained B.A. degree in Economics & Sociology.

He has also attended a number of courses. both locally and internationally, including Competing Effectively in a Deregulated Oil& Gas Industry, Developing a High Performing Organisation, International Oil Pollution Compensation Funds Workshop, Lubrication Technology & Management of  lubricating oils, among others.

He has written extensively on Ghana’s petroleum downstream industry and participated in several business conferences/summits both locally and internationally including the Africa Business Leaders’ Summit, Africa Oil & Gas Summit which he has been a conference speaker.

RICHARD GYAN-MENSAH, Finance & Planning Manager

Mr Gyan-Mensah, 34, has been the Finance & Planning Manager since February, 2014. 

He is very knowledgeable of the workings of the downstream industry and very versatile, uniquely combining practical field operations, marketing, retail audit and finance experiences in the OMC business management.

A very diligent, detailed and disciplined professional who performs his duties with integrity, he has brought these qualities to bear on the prudent management of PETROSOL’s finances leading to the company being rated highly in the industry in terms of its credit-worthiness.

A very skilful negotiator, he has always applied this in negotiating favourable product supply terms to guarantee regular supply of petroleum products for uninterrupted operations, even in times of national fuel supply crisis.

He has been very instrumental in raising the required investment funds to construct our numerous stations without compromising our commitment to our suppliers and another institutions.  

Prior to joining PETROSOL, he was the Assistant Finance Manager of Union Oil Ghana Ltd, a leading OMC.

He also previously worked with an automobile firm, Trust Hands Auto Centre Ltd as the Accountant before joining Union Oil Ghana Ltd.

He joined Union in 2010 as the Accounts/Operations Officer and was responsible for auditing the operations of the company’s retail outlets as well as handling Unified Petroleum Price Fund (UPPF) Returns, BOST Margins and monitoring projects expenditure among others. By dint of hard work, professionalism and diligence, he was promoted, after a short period, to become the Assistant Finance Manager.

He was very instrumental in the growth of Union Oil Ghana Ltd, having effectively assisted the Finance Manager in managing the finances of the company and also represented Union Oil in its dealings with stakeholders such as the NPA, Bulk Oil Storage and Transportation Co. Ltd (BOST) the Customs Division of the Ghana Revenue Authority, the Bulk Oil Distribution Companies, banks, etc

Mr Gyan-Mensah is a product of the University of Cape Coast, where he graduated with Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting and Psychology. He currently holds Part III of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG).

 

JOSEPH NEEPALIM YARIBIL, Operations & Safety Manager

Mr Yaribil, 33, has been the Operations & Safety Manager since February, 2014. 

Since assuming office, he has been very instrumental in implementing PETROSOL’s retail outlets development programme leading to phenomenal expansion of our retail outlets from the four at the time we began to the current 46.

He has brought his professionalism to bear on raising the quality level of our fuel stations countrywide, both in the execution of new projects and the re-engineering of existing stations to fit into PETROSOL’s standard.  

Mr Yaribil is a results-oriented professional who is very hard-working and executes his assignments with diligence and integrity.

He has been very instrumental in ensuring that PETROSOL’s operations continue to witness significant improvement, thereby meeting regulatory requirements and PETROSOL’s Health, Safety, Security and Environment(HSSE) policies, a feat that is acknowledged by the industry’s regulatory bodies. 

Prior to joining PETROSOL, he was the Operations Manager of NASONA Oil Co. Ltd. 

By dint of hard work, professionalism and dedication to duty, he was made to head the Operations Department not long after joining NASONA as the Compliance Officer.

He was instrumental in streamlining the operations of NASONA’s retail outlets at the time to ensure that they complied with the regulations of the NPA, especially at a time when the regulator began vigorous enforcement of compliance issues. 

Mr Yaribil has had hands-on experience working at fuel retail outlet level and taking part in conducting research on buying behaviour of motorists through previous roles he played with PETROSOL, during its early days of consultancy.

Mr Yaribil also has some high level industry exposure having previously successfully represented NASONA during high level industry meetings and engagements at the level of the Association of Oil Marketing Companies (AOMCs).

He has also attended several courses and seminars on petroleum business operation, compliance, lubrication, leadership, etc.

Mr. Yaribil holds a Master of Science (Supply Chain Management) degree from Coventry University, UK and BSc. Degree in Chemistry from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science & Technology. He also has an Executive Mastery Certificate in Business Administration from the Graduate School of Governance and Leadership.

KWASI ZIGAH, Marketing & Supply Chain Manager

Mr Zigah, 37, has been the Marketing & Supply Chain Manager of PETROSOL since February, 2015.

Since assuming this role, he has introduced major innovations aimed at motivating his team, raising their capacity and growing retail sales significantly and sustainably, even in the midst of stiff competition.

He has also introduced technology in our marketing effort in a unique manner in the industry to create consumer engagement and loyalty to the PETROSOL brand.

He has further introduced innovative models in managing our supply chain to ensure PETROSOL’s 46 stations and corporate consumers have uninterrupted supply of petroleum products.

A results-driven and passionate professional, he continuous to exhibit high level of commitment to duty and integrity.

Mr Zigah has a rare blend of experience in the petroleum, telecommunications, logistics and pharmaceutical business environments, cutting across indigenous and multinational firms.

He has brought his experience to bear on successfully executing PETROSOL’s entry into the Volta Region, especially the Aflao area, in a very significant manner.

Before joining PETROSOL, he was the Supply Chain Manager (Ghana & Nigeria) of Sandoz DD, a German pharmaceutical company, having previously worked as the Regional Manager (Western Region) and later as Channel Manager of Millicom Ghana Ltd (tiGO) as well as Business Unit Manager of DHL (Unilever Factory, Tema).

He began his career with Oando Ghana Ltd, starting from one of their fuel stations and eventually working at the Head Office in Accra as Operations Assistant. He later joined Glory Oil Co. Ltd where he was Marketing Representative/Area Manager in charge of some parts of the Greater Accra Region and the Volta Region.

Mr Zigah holds an MBA in General Management from the Winston Salem State University, USA. He also holds Post-Graduate Diploma in Marketing (CIM, UK), Professional Certificate in Production &Inventory Management and Bachelor of Arts (First Class) degree in Psychology from the University of Ghana.
