Nuamah Donkor resigns as STC boss
The Managing Director (MD) of Intercity STC Coaches Limited, Mr Samuel Nuamah Donkor, has resigned.

In a letter dated April 7, 2017 and addressed to the Minister of Transport, Mr Kweku Ofori Asiamah, Mr Donkor said; “I shall avail myself till the end of the month (April 30, 2017) to assist whoever will take over from me to effect a smooth transition.”
He expressed appreciation to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the Transport minister for allowing him “to be part of your team on assumption of office”.
Mr Donkor was appointed MD of the company by President John Dramani Mahama in 2014.
Reviving STC
From a company that had virtually grinded to a halt when he was appointed, the former Health and Ashanti regional minister in the erstwhile Rawlings administration managed to revive the fortunes of the company.
Under his leadership, STC entered into agreements with a number of private companies, including SIC, to augment its depleted fleet.
The latest of one such agreements was signed in March this year.
The Intercity STC signed an agreement with Nordic Logistics Limited for the procurement and operation of 100 buses to boost the operations of the state-owned transport company.
Nordic, under the six-year agreement, is expected to initially supply 100 buses valued at US$35 million and when convenient to the parties, increase the number of buses to 300 during the tenure of the agreement.
In October last year, the Mahama administration gave the company a new lifeline with the inauguration of 50 brand new Scania Marcopolo buses to ply both local and international routes.
Mr Donkor’s tenure also had the introduction of a new customer service approach to STC buses, especially cabin crews on its international routes.
