NCA certifies GOtv decoders for digital migration

The National Communications Authority (NCA) has given approval to GOtv to retail and use its digital decoders nationwide. The approval followed the certification of GOtv’s decoders earlier this month.

A statement from the company said GOtv Ghana had duly submitted its decoders to be thoroughly assessed by the NCA for their compatibility with receiving digital signals in Ghana.

“We are proud to announce that on the 1st of December the NCA issued us with a Type Approval Certificate for our GOtv Decoders.”

“This means all GOtv decoders are ready for use after digital migration,” it said.

GOtv DTT services

The Managing Director of GOtv, Mr Cecil Sunkwa-Mills, explained that persons who had already purchased GOtv decoders would not need new decoders when the country migrates onto the digital broadcast platform in September 2017.

“With this certification, all GOtv decoders will now bear the Digital Ghana logo, a sign to confirm the decoder has gone through the certification and approval process of the NCA for use in Ghana,” the statement said.

GOtv Digital Terrestrial Television (DTT) Service in Ghana was launched in January 2013, as the first approved Version 2 DTT service in the country.

It covered seven regions and its subscriber management service was supported by Multichoice Ghana Limited.

GOtv currently has three packages from which subscribers can choose.
