MTN Ayoba MoMo Accelerator awards 5 startups
MTN Ayoba MoMo Accelerator has rewarded five startup businesses for their innovation in the tech space.
The award was to push local businesses to leverage Ayoba as a platform to drive growth for businesses and push their services and products to customers outside.

Speaking at the maiden ceremony in Accra, the Manager for Digital Platform at MTN Ghana, Winnie Dzidonu, said five out of the 10 selected winners were awarded by MTN Ayoba for their immense achievements and providing strong micro-apps on the Ayoba app platform.
She said currently, MTN Ayoba was free to use for the 18 apps uploaded on it, however, there were plans to introduce a revenue share between the app owners and MTN in the future, adding that “MTN will continue to work with these hubs to provide good and effective digital services for all.”
She commended all participants and winners for their great works in supporting MTN Ayoba MoMo Accelerator.
Huge potential market
The Chief Digital Officer at MTN Ghana, Dario Bianchi, explained that MTN Ayoba came up with the accelerator to encourage businesses in Africa to digitise their products and services to reach more clients across the continent.
He said Ayoba currently had some 41 million registered accounts with 21 million active users across Africa, out of which there were over two million in Ghana alone.
That, he said, had a huge potential market for start-ups and businesses which signed on to Ayoba, adding that “MTN Ayoba Momo Accelerator is the best place to put your product and information out there to the world.”
Winners
The ultimate winner — Noni Hub, who received the Top Tech Hub Award, took home GH₵50,000 and a lifetime partnership with MTN.
The other four: Africa Global Radio won the Most Liked Micro App on Ayoba; TUDU Online Shopping was the Best MoMo Solution on Ayoba; snails’ producer DEMASKO Farms won the Top Ayoba Influencer for best use of QR Code for sign ups and engagement, while Agribusiness/greenhouse produce App SmithField received the Experts Choice Award.
Each of them won GH¢20,000 plus a lifetime partnership with MTN Ayoba.
