The Christian Community Microfinance Limited (CCML) has launched a campaign to settle the hospital bills of what it calls “stranded” discharged patients for the next one month.
Under the campaign, the CCML will help the needy by paying off the hospital bills of patients who have already been discharged but have been detained due to their inability to pay the bills.
Dubbed the “Dawn of the uncommon campaign”, the CCML, which is a business entity of the Christian Council of Ghana (CCG), revealed that the campaign would target patients in areas within Accra and Tema for a month.
Stranded patients
The Communications Manager of CCML, Mr Kojo Oppong Adjei, explained to the Daily Graphic in Accra that a team from the CCML was visiting selected hospitals and health institutions to make enquiries about ‘stranded patients’ to assist them by paying off their hospital bills.
“We pay the bills of patients discharged but have been detained for non-payment of their bills and then transport them home in our Benz taxi. We reckon that luxury is the last thing on their minds but since that is the uncommon treatment we give our clients, we are giving them same,” he added
According to him, the CCML, through the campaign, is also offering free financial advice to the public and providing them with reliable financial solutions to their needs through loans, savings and investments.
CCML profile
Mr Oppong Adjei said the CCML was fully owned by the CCG and was currently operating within five regions in Ghana with 23 operational units.
He said the CCML had been providing credit facilities to micro entrepreneurs, small businesses, private schools, private health facilities, churches, groups and individuals since 1979.
