Kascity District Society supports Royal Seed Home orphanage 

The Kascity District Society of the Institute of Chartered Accountants, Ghana (ICAG), has handed over assorted items worth GH₵ 13,000 to the Royal Seed Home, an orphanage at Kwao Bondzie at Kasoa in the Central Region.

The items include boxes of sanitary towel, bags of rice and washing powder, gallons of oil, bags of water, sacks of sugar, loafs of bread, clothing among others. 

The donation forms part of efforts by the group of Chartered Accountants residing in Kasoa and its environs, to give back to the society by supporting the deprived and vulnerable in society. 

This is the second time the Kascity District Society is donating to the orphanage, demonstrating its commitment towards making impact in the life of others. 

The Chairman of the society, Joshua Lomotey, led a delegation of other executives, to hand over the items to the orphanage.

The delegation also toured the facility to understand how the orphanage operates and explore further areas such as water supply, ongoing infrastructure projects where the society could offer support in the future. 

They also took turns to offer a word of advice to the children and teenagers numbering about 95 and possible career path they could explore when they grow older. 

Rationale 

Mr Lomotey explained that the society observed the conditions of the orphans and decided to render support to the orphanage to enable management of the home to carry out its mandate. 

He added that giving back to society had always been an inherent part of the society and as a result, the society at its monthly meetings conscientises its members on the need to give back to society. 

“It is not the case that we are very okay or gotten all that we need in life but sometimes you also have to look back and identify those who are needy in society and reach out to them.

“We believe that even though this donation will not solve their problems totally, but at least it will go a very long way to help them grow and not to become a liability to the nation,” he said. 

Corruption

Recognising corruption as a major issue stifling the country’s growth, the Chairman called on the government to root out the menace.

That, he said would ensure that more jobs were created for the teeming youth to contribute to the economy. 

“When people embezzle funds, all these resources, if you think about them, you realise that if these resources were to be channelled to the right places, it can create employment for people to work and life will be less stressful,” he said.

Mr Lomotey added that as chartered accountants, they would also play their part by abiding by the principles of integrity and professionalism, which are major qualities of the accounting profession. 

For his part, the Secretary of the Kascity District Society, Michael Kwakye, encouraged the orphanage to continue the good work they are doing to inspire life.

He further called on other district societies to impact the lives of the less privileged by embarking on such donations.

Gratitude 

In her remarks on behalf of the Orphanage, a Senior Caretaker, Esther Sakyi, who received the items, expressed gratitude to the Kascity District Society for their immense contribution to the welfare of the Orphanage.

She further called on corporate Ghana to come to their aid by supplying them with more of such items to help them channel the limited resources to education and health.
