Institute of Sustainability Professionals Ghana launched to pioneer sustainability best practices and professional development

The Institute of Sustainability Professionals Ghana (ISPG) has officially been launched, dedicated to advancing sustainability practices, and fostering professional development in Environmental, Social and Governance considerations and standards in Ghana.

As the country continues its rapid economic growth, there is an increasing need for skilled professionals who can effectively implement sustainable practices across various sectors.

The ISPG aims to be a hub for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and strategic collaboration, providing a platform for professionals and organisations to develop a comprehensive sustainability framework.

This framework will align with both local priorities and global sustainability targets, including the United Nations’ Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

Speaking at the launch event, Professor Mathew Tsamenyi, President of ISPG, emphasised the role of sustainability professionals in driving Ghana’s sustainability movement.

“The establishment of ISPG marks a significant step forward for Ghana’s future. As we continue to address global environmental and social challenges, having a trained cadre of professionals who understand and can implement sustainability practices is crucial for ensuring long-term prosperity.”

As a platform for knowledge exchange, capacity building, and the development of a robust sustainability framework, the Institute will also promote cross-sector collaboration, encouraging industries to embed sustainability into their core business strategies, ensuring they not only meet regulatory requirements but also contribute to the broader global push for a greener and more inclusive economy.

The UN Resident Coordinator, His Excellency Charles Abani,  highlighted the importance of corporate sustainability during his address.

Every stakeholder here today, business leaders, professionals, policymakers, and young innovators should engage actively with ISPG's initiatives. Together, we can drive sustainable development, not just for Ghana but as part of a global movement towards a greener, fairer future.”

The leadership of the ISPG consists of President Professor Mathew Tsamenyi, Vice President Nana Yaa Afriyie Ofori-Koree, Secretary Prince Osisiadan, Treasurer Georgia Ansah, Public Relations Officer Kwasi Baafi, Programmes Officer Majorie Quansah, and Membership Officer Miriam Arthur.
