Industry players deliberate on upcoming Ghana Auto Awards

As part of preparations towards the 4th Ghana Auto Awards, Xodus Communications Limited in partnership with the Graphic Communications Group Limited have met with players and stakeholders in the auto industry.


The meeting was to offer more insight on the upcoming awards and Test Drive Festival to the industry players.

It was also to explain the categories and the criteria for the Awards, the process, and the modalities for the Test Drive.

The meeting also presented an opportunity to discuss some challenges in the industry and how to find permanent solutions to them.

The auto companies present at the meeting included MAC Ghana, Silver Star Autos, CFAO, Tata Ghana, Alliance Motors, MG Rover, and Auto Parts.

The rest are Universal Motors, Japan Motors, Tanink Ghana, SMT Ghana, Zonda, Stallion Motors, Honda Ghana and Audi Ghana.

Auto Awards

An initiative of Xodus Communication, the 4th Ghana Auto Awards is being held in partnership with the Graphic Communications Group.

The award’s is supervised by professional auto engineers sourced from across the country who are dedicated to ensuring that the awarding process is carried out with utmost objectivity, credibility, and integrity.

It also presents a platform for the Automotive Industry to demonstrate and celebrate the advances made in the key areas of manufacturing, assembling, technology, stewardship, franchising, innovation, corporate social responsibility, health and safety

Sound information

Commenting on the awards, Events Director of Xodus Communication, Richard Abbey Jnr, said the purpose of the awards was to provide consumers with sound, comparative information on vehicles that were new to the market.

He said this was done by selecting the best new vehicles in the various categories; the Economy Vehicle of the Year; Best New Technology award; Best New Design; and the overall Car of the Year award.

On his part, the Sales and Advert Manager of the Graphic Communications Group, George Danso, said the awards was to showcase and introduce new entrants of vehicles into the Ghanaian market and promote authorized dealership.

He said the Graphic Group had been a long standing partner to the industry hence the interest in giving exclusive publicity to make the event a success’

Criteria

The nominated vehicles will be judged based on value for money which include pricing, cost of depreciation, running & repair costs, fuel consumption, warranty & dealer access, insurance.

It will also be judged on design and function which will take into consideration factors such as safety, environment, seating comfort, space, practicality, ergonomics.

Nominated vehicles will also be selected based on road performance, handling, braking, smoothness and quietness.

Prior to the main awards which has been scheduled for October 15, 2022, a Test Drive Festival will be held on October 8, 2022 at the Achimota Mall.

The test drive festival will provide a sales platform and networking field for auto dealers through the convergence of potential buyers, car enthusiasts, and vendors at one place.
