The competition, organised by Indomie, was to celebrate the food sellers and to motivate them to be enterprising with their business venture.

The 10 winners were among 30 finalists representing different suburbs of Accra who took part in the competition.

They were all part of a group of over 200 tea and Indomie sellers who took part in a day’s workshop some weeks ago during which they were taught new recipes and how to cook under hygienic conditions by chefs from the Holiday Inn Hotel.

A team from Indomie subsequently went on a mystery shopping to select the finalists.

The contest saw the 30 finalists prepare a mandatory vegetarian dish and any other dish of their choice. They were judged based creativity, quality tasting, spicing, ingredients and garnishing of the dishes.

The Zonal Sales Manager of Indomie, Ben Nsia-Asare commended the food venders for their culinary skills and urged them to adopt customer friendly attitudes.

A jubilant winner from Lapaz, a suburb in Accra, was upbeat about her business, “I’m going to delight my customers with what I have learnt and will surprise them with recipes that will excite them this yuletide”.

The 10 winners went home with a Certificate, Gold Medal, gas cooker, as well as Indomie noodles and Minimie Chinchin products and souvenirs. The other 20 contestants also received various prizes including products and souvenirs. — GB
