GEPA reaffirms continuous support to Nano Foods Ltd

The Ghana Export Promotion Authority (GEPA) has reaffirmed its commitment to continue to support Nano Foods Ltd with pineapple suckers to enable the company have regular access to pineapple fruits for processing to sustain its market.

That, it said, would help the processing factory increase exports significantly within the shortest possible time to enable it to contribute its quota to the rapid growth of non-traditional export revenue.

In a release issued by the authority last Tuesday, it said “GEPA is proud that its modest contribution by way of the supply of pineapple suckers to Nano Foods out-growers since 2019 has yielded the right results.

“Aside the revenue generation from the export, the company has also contributed to the job creation agenda of the government.”

As part of GEPA’s support to increase Non-Traditional Exports (NTEs) in the country, it launched the Pineapple Supply Base Expansion programme in 2017 to supply pineapple suckers to farmers, exporters and outgrowers to feed both local processing companies and the export market.

Among the exporters and outgrowers who benefited from this programme were Golden Riverside, Ohu Farms, Lovely Farms, Able Farms and Outgrowers of Nano Foods Ltd comprising Premier Food and Vegetable Cooperatives, Apesika Cooperatives, Erico Farms among others.

These outgrowers of Nano Foods Ltd operating with the Akuapim South District were supported with a total of one million pineapple suckers, which planted 45 acres between 2019 and 2021.
