Dr. Maame Yaa Afriye wins Most Innovative CEO at 6th Women Choice Awards Africa

Dr. Maame Yaa Afriye, the Chief Executive Officer of St. John’s Hospital and Fertility Centre, has been awarded the Leadership Excellence in Innovation Award at the 6th Women Choice Awards Africa, held at the Marriott Hotel in Accra. 

The award celebrates her visionary leadership and her role in advancing healthcare in Ghana through innovative approaches at St. John’s Hospital.

Themed "The Power of Now," this year’s Women Choice Awards recognised remarkable women who serve as role models in their industries, aiming to inspire others to follow in their footsteps. Organised by Global Ovation, the event seeks to celebrate the achievements of women who have set high standards of excellence in their fields, even amid ongoing challenges. 

Dr. Afriye’s leadership has propelled St. John’s Hospital and Fertility Centre to become a prominent name in Ghana’s healthcare sector, driven by a patient-centric approach and a commitment to providing what the hospital describes as a "WOW Experience" through exceptional hospitality, quality healthcare, and open communication. Under her five-year tenure, the hospital has undergone extensive modernisation, with upgrades to its infrastructure and technologies that have established it as a leading facility for general and specialised healthcare.

In her acceptance speech, Dr. Afriye expressed her gratitude to her team and clients for their unwavering support, stating, “I am happy for this recognition. This is a big win for us all.” She further highlighted the importance of improved working conditions and building strong client trust to drive Ghana’s healthcare sector forward.

Dr. Afriye's accomplishments have not gone unnoticed, with St. John’s Hospital receiving numerous accolades under her leadership, including Ghana’s Most Outstanding Female in Healthcare Excellence at the Corporate Ghana Hall of Fame, *Outstanding Private Specialist of the Year (Gynaecology)* in 2023, and *Ultramodern Medical Facility of the Year* in 2022 by the Ghana-West Africa Excellence Awards.

Dr. Afriye’s academic and professional background underscores her dedication to healthcare. With a PhD in Health Policy and Management from the University of Ghana Business School, a BSc in Pharmacy from KNUST, and an MBA in Health Services Management, her expertise is well-regarded within and beyond Ghana. She has co-authored influential research in reputable journals, contributing insights on topics such as customer relationship management in patient care and exclusive breastfeeding experiences among working mothers in Ghana.

Her influence extends beyond the hospital as she actively participates in conferences and seminars worldwide, sharing her knowledge and experience in healthcare management.

The event was attended by high-profile dignitaries, including representatives from the Ghanaian government and diplomatic corps, highlighting the significance of Dr. Afriye's achievement and her contributions to healthcare innovation in Ghana.
