He said many members of the chamber are doing many things that needed to be recognised to motivate others to also follow suit.

The GNCC President made the pledge when he inaugurated a committee to organise the second annual Chamber Business Awards to celebrate outstanding Ghanaian businesses and personalities in the country.

The committee chaired by the Chief Executive Officer of the Chartered Institute of Marketing Ghana (CIMG), Mr Frank Agyekum, is made up of a team of highly credible personnel with expertise in the organisation of similar high profile events, as well as representatives from key institutions such as the public, private and selected staff of the chamber.

Nana Dankawoso tasked the members of the committee to be diligent, steadfast, transparent and fair in the discharge of their duties.

According to him, the rationale for the awards is to reward excellence and motivate and, therefore, all efforts to ensure that those who win deserved it should not be compromised.

He pledged the support of the chamber to provide the committee, all that it required to ensure a smooth, free and fair process.

Mr Agyekum in his response on behalf of the committee, expressed gratitude to the Chamber for the confidence reposed in the members.

“We will discharge our duties as mandated to uphold the integrity of the awards which has come to stay,” he said
Chamber’s mandate

With its mandate enshrined in LI 611 of 1968 (Act 262), the Chamber is enjoined to provide leadership for the growth and prosperity of businesses in Ghana.

As an autonomous business support organisation, the Chamber promotes and protects the interest of businesses by serving as a link between established businesses, the emerging sector and government at the various levels while offering our members a myriad of business support services towards the general development of the Ghanaian economy.

As part of efforts to foster ethical practices and promote businesses, the Chamber last year initiated the GNCC Business Awards to celebrate the very best and finest of Ghanaian businesses that have demonstrated excellence in leadership and innovation in contributing to the socio-economic development of the country.
