Chairman of Berock Ventures honoured by Nobel Forum

The Founder and Chairman of Berock Ventures Limited, a local building and civil engineering company, Mr Rockson Dogbegah, has received the International Nobles Award.
The award by the West Africa Nobel Forum is in recognition of his achievement as an entrepreneur, contribution to economic growth, integrity and courage to speak to issues of public interest dispassionately.
A fortnight ago, the Chairman of Berock was also adjudged the Best Entrepreneur in Building and Civil Engineering at the third UT Ghana Entrepreneurs Award 2012.
Mr Dogbegah was among successful businessmen and women and chief executives from both private and public organisations in West Africa that were awarded and inducted into the West Africa Nobel Forum over the weekend at Sogakope in the Volta Region.
The Nobel Forum is in its 17th year and has 2000 members from across the sub-region.
It is a sub-regional think tank fashioned after the Philosophical Society of America and made up of statesmen, legal luminaries, politicians, research fellows, technocrats, medical giants and captains of industry.
Commenting on the awards, Mr Dogbegah expressed his gratitude for the recognition. He said it was important for members of the society to help address the challenges of the country and the sub-region at large.
Touching on the construction industry, Mr Dogbegah explained that it was crucial for contractors and built environment professionals to actively contribute to the development of the entire construction industry rather than limiting their concerns to their individual businesses.
Mr Dogbegah noted the challenge of improper planning of cities, disregard for building rules and regulations, saying that players in the industry needed to speak publicly on these issues and also support the government in enforcing the regulations.
He also said the built environment professionals in particular were too quiet over the industry issues, and added that that did not augur well for the sector and the country as a whole.
Mr Dogbegah, who is also the Chairman of the Ghana Centre for Chartered Institute of Building and the Ghana Contractors Association Council, said the various accidents associated with the construction sub-sector were a call on all players to step beyond their little confines to confront the bigger challenge.
