Bolt Food's operations in Kumasi have grown by more than 100 per cent year-on-year in its second year, pointing to sustained demand for app-based food delivery in the Ashanti Region.
The company said the continued growth reflects sustained adoption of delivery beyond Accra and the growing role of Kumasi as an important market in Ghana.
Since entering the city nearly two years ago, Bolt Food has connected customers with local restaurants through its platform, giving restaurants and other food merchants an additional channel to reach customers beyond physical footfall.
The General Manager of Bolt Food, Mr Ali Zaryab, said Kumasi's performance demonstrated why expanding beyond the capital was an important part of the company's growth strategy in Ghana.
"When we expanded Bolt Food to Kumasi, we saw an opportunity to serve one of Ghana's largest and most commercially active cities. Nearly two years later, the fact that the business is still growing at more than 100% year-on-year shows that the demand was not simply an initial launch effect. Customers are continuing to adopt delivery as part of how they access restaurants and increasingly other everyday products across the city," he said.
The growth also reflects a broader evolution in how customers use delivery platforms. While restaurant meals remain an important part of the delivery experience, the company said the sustained growth suggested that delivery was becoming a familiar option for customers seeking convenience.
"What is particularly encouraging about Kumasi is not just the growth, but the breadth of demand we're beginning to see," Mr Zaryab added. "Food delivery may have been the starting point, but customers are increasingly looking for convenience across different parts of their day. That creates an opportunity for restaurants to reach customers in new ways."
Bolt Food said it would continue working with local merchants and couriers as it strengthens its operations in Kumasi and responds to changing customer demand. The company added that it would continue to grow its delivery offering in Ghana, connecting customers with restaurants and retailers through its app.
