AGI launches Industry Awards to reward deserving companies
The Association of Ghana Industries (AGI) has launched the 2013 edition of the Ghana Industry Awards to reward and recognise the sterling contributions of companies and individuals to the industrial growth of the economy.

This year's event is the second in the series after the award ceremony was instituted last year as an annual affair for the association and industries in the country.
It will be held in November to coincide with the AGI Industry Week Celebration, the President of the association, said at the launch in Accra.
The awards will see companies recognised in six awards categories – Overall Best Industrial Company of the Year, Best Corporate Social Responsibility, Environmental Project Company of the Year, and Fastest Growing Company.
Companies are, thus, expected to compete for the six broad categories - the Overall Best Industrial Company, Best Corporate Social Responsibility Company, Best Environmental Project Company, Fastest Growing Company, Young Enterprise Company – Innovation and Entrepreneurship and Best Practices in Sustainable Manufacturing Company of the Year.
Aside these six categorise, companies will also be awarded under the AGI sector award category which are 20 in number and spans from agric to oil and gas, automotive and transport to financial services and textiles and leather to information and communication technology among others.
"The AGI Ghana Industry Awards is to reward and honour companies that have achieved outstanding success in various areas of industry and innovation in the year under review," the Chairperson of the Research and Wards Committee, Mrs Awurabena Okrah, said at the launch.
Following the launch, individuals can now nominate deserving companies of choice for the various sectors, the chairperson said, and thus urged members to select their preferred choices when the call for nominations open next month.
Among the winners for last year were Fan Milk Ghana Limited which was adjudged the Overall Best Industrial Company and Alexiboam Company Limited, a construction and chain saw operating company based in the Western Region, which won the Young Enterprise Company – Innovation and Entrepreneurship – for 2012.
The 2012 award winners were also presented with certificates, in addition to he plaques they received last year, at the launch of this year's awards last week.
