Access Bank holds second mini-draw

Access Bank (Ghana) Limited has rewarded 30 customers and patrons in the second mini-draw of its ongoing “Easy Access Promo”.

The draw, which was held in the Ashanti Regional capital, Kumasi, was preceded by a savings walk through the principal streets of the city to reach the under-banked and unbanked.

The bank said in a statement that hundreds of staff, including senior management personnel, as well as the promo ambassador and ace radio and television presenter, Mr Kwami Sefa Kayi, participated in the four-hour savings walk.

The team took time to educate shop owners, market women, artisans and students on how to open savings account and develop a savings plan by putting small sums of money away regularly.

The “Easy Access Promo” draw in Kumasi comes barely four weeks after winners in the first mini-draw held in Tamale received their prizes, including LED televisions, generator sets, smart phones, DVD players and branded souvenirs.

To enter the promotion, customers are expected to deposit GH¢200 into their new or existing Access Bank savings or current accounts. Customers increase their chances in the draw by depositing multiples of GH¢200.

The statement quoted the Group Head of Retail Banking at Access Bank (Ghana), Mr Stephen Abban, as saying at the draw that: “The Easy Access promo was part of a broader strategy by Access Bank to promote financial inclusion by tapping into new segments of the retail market, as the already 30 per cent or so banked population was already overstretched by competition”.

Mr Abban added that in addition to the exciting prizes, the bank was offering all the promo entrants the opportunity to receive a free “Accesslink” card, which would allow them to withdraw money locally from any automated teller machines (ATM) in the country with the GH-link logo”.

He was delighted that the 30 winners, who would be announced during the second mini-draw, would provide enough reason for those with a “wait and see” attitude to believe in the promo and join in to qualify for the grand draw in November.

The draw was supervised by the National Lotteries Authority (NLA). There are over 100 prizes in two monthly mini-draws in September and October with the grand draw at the end of November.

The ultimate prize winner will drive home a fully loaded Hyundai 2013 iX35 car from Auto Plaza.

Access Bank launched the promotion in August 2013 to promote a savings culture in the country by rewarding customers with exciting prizes.

To date, over 25,000 new and existing customers have taken up the challenge to save.
