He noted that the country’s economy had seen a solid growth over the years in the manufacturing, retail, distribution, import and export sectors and as such, the award scheme recognised the achievements of individuals and companies that play a significant role in the development of those sectors.

“I wish to use this opportunity to say a big thank you to our members of the Awarding Board and all special guests who spared precious time to be present today,” he said.

AfCFTA

For his part, Executive Director of the Centre for Greater Impact Africa and a research and development expert, Rev. Dr Samuel Worlanyo, urged local companies to take advantage of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) to expand their businesses.

He noted that AfCFTA provided the opportunity for Africa to create the world’s largest free trade area, with the potential to unite 1.3 billion people, in a $2.5 trillion economic bloc and usher in a new era of development.

He explained that the main objectives of the AfCFTA were to create a continental market for goods and services with free movement of people and capital.

Rev. Worlanyo added that it would also grow intra-African trade through better harmonisation and coordination of trade liberalisation across the continent.

“The AfCFTA is further expected to enhance competitiveness at the industry and enterprise level through exploitation of opportunities for scale production, continental market access and better reallocation of resources,” he added.
