The management of Aduana Stars has offered the club’s former playmaker, Yahaya Mohammed, a new contract to assist them in their domestic and continental assignments after he parted ways with Tanzanian side, Azam FC.

Earlier this week, the former OGC Nice midfielder was linked with a move to giants, Accra Hearts of Oak, with media reports suggesting that he had completed the deal after a series of negotiations with the Phobians.

However, Mohammed reported at the offices of Aduana at Dormaa-Ahenkro yesterday to begin negotiations with the leadership of the club as he seeks to make a grand return to the Ghanaian top flight.

Both Mr Albert Commey Aryeetey and Mr George Gyewu, CEO and Operations Manager of Aduana respectively, told the Graphic Sports over the telephone yesterday in separate interviews, about the player's arrival at Dormaa-Ahenkro to sign the deal for a couple of years.

"Yahaya is back to Aduana to help us next season. He was supposed to arrive in Dormaa three days ago but I learnt he landed yesterday," said Mr Commey.

"The deal is almost complete. The manager who is in charge of contracts is negotiating with him and I can tell you that they are almost done. We are happy to re-sign him because he is a good player and I am sure he will be of help to our campaign next season," said Mr Gyewu, Aduana’s Operations Manager.

The 29-year-old striker, who last played for Aduana Stars two seasons ago, gained prominence when he featured for the Black Stars B team in the 2014 CHAN tournament in South Africa.

Mohammed was signed on by the Tanzanian giants close to a year ago after helping Aduana Stars to finish second to Wa All Stars in the league.

He had earlier played for teams such as Real Tamale United, Tema Youth, Amidaus Professionals, Kumasi Asante Kotoko, OGC Nice and Al Ittihad of Libya.

Meanwhile, Aduana are looking forward to retaining goalkeeper Stephen Adams whose contract ran out at the end of the season.

Reports indicated that the player was on his way out of the club, but the club’s management has refuted the claims, saying the player will extend his contract to enable him to assist them in their activities next season.
