The side beat fierce rival Takoradi Technical University (TTU) 36-22 to top Zone C and secure an automatic spot in the latter stages of the competition.

UCC rode a two game winning streak into the final game of the round against TTU after beating town rival Cape-Coast Technical University (CCTU) 49-34 and University of Education-Winneba (UEW) 34-32 in the opening games.

The host team played out a spirited campaign which characterized its rise to the silver medal at the 7th Mini GUSA Games played in January.

Team veterans, starting Point Guard Ibrahim Mohammed and Center Desmond Cobblah led a young side to frustrate and outscore opponents.

The win is a revenge mission completed as UCC atoned for missing out on the top spot in last year’s Championship.

With its spot guaranteed in the quarter finals, UCC will head to Accra to compete on April 6 and 7 for a spot in the semifinals.
