Taekwondo: Great Counselor club win video contest

The Great Counselor International School Taekwondo Club was last Saturday adjudged winners of this year's "I love Taekwondo" video contest at a very impressive ceremony held at the Silver bird cinema at the Accra Mall.

Great Counselor defeated Ghana Prisons Service Taekwondo Club to win this year's edition in a fierce contest.

Last Saturday’s event, which was graced by a large crowd of taekwondo practitioners and lovers of the sport, was the second edition of the novelty “I love taekwondo” contest organised by the GhanaTaekwondo Federation (GTF) with support from the Embassy of the Republic of Korea and Rana Motors.

Winners of the contest, Great Counselor, received sets of taekwondo uniforms, equipment and mats for winning the gold, while Prisons took home training gears and protective cloth as the silver winners.

Dar-Es-Salaam Basic Taekwondo Club, Queenscourt Taekwondo Academy and SOS-HG Taekwondo Club all finished as winners of bronze.Speaking at the event, the Korean Ambassador to Ghana, Woon-Ki Lyeo, reiterated the embassy’s commitment towards developing the sport in the country.

The president of the GTF, Frederick Lartey Otu, for his part said the contest had since its introduction deepened the love for the sport.He, therefore, encouraged the youth to come on board and practise taekwondo.
