I’m staying to revive my career — Bastie Samir

Undefeated middleweight fighter, Bastie Samir, says he has no intention of relocating back to the United States of America after an unfruitful time there.

Bastie said he was rather ready to train and fight in Ghana with the aim of landing a world title shot in the United States of America just like his predecessors, Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and Joshua Clottey, among, others did.

He said his stay in the US didn't yield results as expected and was happy to be back home to relaunch his career as he set his sights on becoming a world champion.

“I am not focused on relocating back to the US after an unfruitful time there and I want to kick start my career here in Ghana. As you know, the likes of Azumah Nelson, Ike Quartey and Joshua Clottey all stayed here and became world champions,” Bastie told the Graphic Sports in an interview last Friday.

“It is good to be back home to kick-start your career and I am ready to fight here until I land a world title shot in the US which I believe will definitely happen,” he added.

Samir marked his return to the country with an outstanding seventh-round knockout over tough-talking boxer, Brimah Kamoko, alias Bukom Banku, in their much-anticipated ‘Make or Break’ bout at the Bukom Boxing Arena last October 21.

He dominated Bukom Banku in a cruiserweight non-title contest which left referee Fred Ghartey stopping the fight after the challenger had knocked the champion down twice in round three and seven.

When asked about his next move, the 31-year-old noted that he was looking forward to fighting great boxers on the continent to improve his record as well as remain active.

“I am ready to fight other equally good fighters on the continent to improve my record as well as remain active,” he explained.
