Mr Mensah, together with former African Footballer of the Year, Abedi Pele, and Executive Committee member, Randy Abbey, have in recent weeks been linked to the GFA top job, but the ex-Kotoko boss told the Graphic Sports he would only contest the position if Mr Nyantakyi personally asked him to do so.

“If Kwesi Nyantakyi wants me to contest him then I will do, but we need to give him the chance to explain where he is taking us, after everything about our World Cup participation has died down. Besides, we are not in an election year and I do not know why everybody is in a rush,” he stated.

“We have got the AFCON 2015 qualifiers to play and these things will distract the playing body, after everything has settled, Kwesi must come out with a plan to take us forward.

“We will not do well in Africa if we are fighting among ourselves, if he does the right things I will throw my full support behind him”, he stressed.

Currently, the chairman of the Ghana Rugby Football Union, Mr Mensah urged the GFA boss to come out with a new strategy for Ghana football.
