I didn't apply for Ghana job — Cameroun coach

Cameroun national team coach Hugo Broos has denied availing himself for the Ghana national team job. The Belgian, who led the Indomitable Lions to Nations Cup victory in Gabon a few months ago, was confirmed as one of three coaches who were interviewed by the Ghana Football Association (FA) search committee last week.

The Black Stars job has, however, been landed by Ghanaian James Kwasi Appiah who returns to the job after parting ways with the Ghana FA in September, 2014.

In what appears a U-turn to save his job, the 64-year-old sharply rejected ever having contacts with the West African giants.

"…There is no reason for me to leave Cameroon. "Forget about my departure or resignation, and don't listen to rumours that I am in negotiations with other federations,” Broos said at a press conference on Tuesday.

The former Anderlecht and Club Brugge boss also disclosed discussions for a contract extension with Cameroon.

"The FA president and I had already discussed a prolongation," Broos vehemently denied the obvious.

The coach also apologised for his outburst at the conditions of service after his side faced challenges during the international break last week. "I would like to apologise for exaggeration. I have certainly humiliated the Cameroonian people," he stated.
