Allow coaches to recruit players - Coach Prince Owusu

The Head Coach of Inter Allies FC, Prince Owusu has urged football administrators to desist from recruiting players before they employ substantive coaches.

He told the media in a post-match interview after his side’s scoreless draw against Kumasi Asante Kotoko at the Baba Yara Stadium that some coaches were finding their work very difficult because they did not have the chance to recruit their preferred players during transfer window.

“I want to urge all club owners and administrators’ to do the right thing for their clubs, the best thing they have to do is to hire a coach and allow the coach to recruit the players they want to work with,” Coach Owusu said.

“Zdravko Lugarusic wants to play a particular system with Kumasi Asante Kotoko and he doesn’t have the guys to play that system he believes in as a coach.

“Lugarusic is having some difficulties, which we all see, and people sit somewhere to say he is not competent, the coach did not do the recruitment and it is very obvious. A similar problem is happening to Frank Nuttall and Accra Hearts of Oak.

The Inter Allies trainer lamented that coaches were compelled to work with players available at their disposal because club administrators often embarked on player recruitment before they hired coaches.

“Coaches will have to work with the available materials, which always cause problems for them. This act is making our job as coaches very difficult for us in Ghana and they should refrain from that.” he said.
