Cycling: Cowbell Open Challenge on Aug 28

 

Over 200 cyclists are expected to converge in Adenta for the Cowbell Open Invitational Cycling Challenge which takes place on August 28.

An initiative of the Velocity Cycling Club which seeks to promote Ghanaian cycling, the competition will see cyclists compete for both individual and team honours over a 109 kilometre distance for cash prizes.

A statement signed by the Administrator of the club, Kwabena Larbi, described the "difficult race route" as a loop which stretches from Adenta, Dodowa, Somanya, Adukrom, Larteh, Ayikumah, and ends at Adenta.

"This open invitational one day cycling races is an initiative of Velocity Cycling Club to promote cycling in Ghana. It is currently in it's second year," the statement said. 

"This race would be an individual/team race and covers a total distance of 109km along the following route: Adenta, Dodowa, Somanya, Adukrom, Larteh, Ayikumah, Larteh, and ends back at Adenta.

"The race will be fully supported with Police Escort, Ambulance and support vehicles. The top ten cyclists will receive cash prizes and full details of prizes will be announced later". 
The statement added that although registration for the race is free, all competitors are expected to send their full name, date of birth, nationality and club affiliations to 0553476344 by August 27.
"On race day, all riders will converge at Legon Botanical Garden from 6.30am to complete registration. This will be followed by race briefing at 7.30am, departure from Legon gardens to start Point, Adenta Police station, at 8am."
