Celebrity win inter-club golf

Celebrity Golf Club last Saturday recorded a 16-13 score against their Achimotan counterparts to win this year’s inter-club golf tournament in Sakumono.

The win avenged the maiden edition loss the premier golf club (Achimota) handed the Sakumono-based side last year at Achimota.

Featuring 29 players apiece, including Eric Johnson, Ole Aronsen, Maureen Akuaku, Tang Bin, Noel Hammond, Joe Dadson, Larry Chinbuah, among others, the Sakumono-based club dominated from start to finish.

The visitors, on the other hand, parading golfers such as former club captain, Rene Gameli Kwame, Kofi Agyei, George Y. Amoah, Chris Appau Oppong (Tiger), and Robert Tandoh, approached the return encounter with the sole aim of replicating the maiden edition feat but trailed by three strokes.

Ghana Open winner, Gabriel T. Korley, continued his exploits in six days by recording a hole-in-one on Hole 11; and as tradition demands, he bought drinks for all the 58 participants. 

Celebrity’s Kwaku Oyere, who was one of the organisers, described the annual inter-club competition as healthy and promised to come out with a date for next year’s edition to be hosted by Achimota.
