Nduom gives $32,000 to GOC

The Ghana Olympic Committee (GOC) has received a massive boost towards their participations in this year’s Rio Olympic Games with a $32,000 donation from the Presidential Candidate of the Progressive Peoples Party (PPP) Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom.

At a short presentation ceremony at the GOC head office at Ridge in Accra yesterday, Dr Nduom assured the GOC of his continued support and urged the athletes to put up their best to make Ghana proud. 

Out of the total amount,  $22,000 is to be used for Team Ghana’s hotel accommodation and utility bills with the additional $10,000 in cash for the management of the the well-being of the athletes and officials .

 “I believe Ghana has always had a huge potential to win medals during such big occasions but I think they don’t live up to expectations during such events due to due to the lack of motivation,” Dr Nduom said.

 Professor Dodoo, who received the donation, hailed Dr Nduom for strongly demonstrating his love for sports and assured Ghanaians that  the money will be used  to support the GOC during the games.  

Ghana will compete in four disciplines in this year’s games. A total of track and field athletes, two swimmers, one weightlifter, one judoka, and a boxer will feature for Ghana during the games..
