McDan Peace Tourney at La Salem Park

Eight teams within the La, Teshie, Nungua and Osu townships, will slug it out at a special organised McDan Peace competition from November 31 to December 4 at the La Salem Park in Accra.

According to organisers of the competition, the McDan Peace Tournament is a match organised to promote peace through football within La and its environs, ahead of the December 7 polls.

There would be five participating teams from La, namely La Court Stars, Salem Stars, Aviation Stars, Gormli Stars and Kakramadu Stars, with a team each from Teshie, Nungua and Osu.

Addressing the media at the launch last Wednesday, the chairman of the organising committee, Adjetey Adjei, noted that the decision to organise the match was to preach peace ahead of the December elections.

He explained that peace was essential among the youth who were the main target of politicians so  the tournament would create avenue to prevent idleness.

Winners of the tournament will bag  $1000 and a trophy as first prize with the second-placed team taking home $500 for their feat. 

There would be a reward for Best Player and a Goal King.
